Online Ministry and Podcast
In 1987, I attended a ministry conference in Houston, Texas where God called me to preach the Gospel as an evangelist.
From 1987 to 1994, I was involved in a combination of ministry activities, including street ministry to the homeless of Houston, apartment complex ministries, preaching in churches and music ministry to the elderly in nursing homes and senior communities in and around the Houston-Galveston-Beaumont area.
During this time, I was also working full time as a salesman and a jeweler.
I was given an opportunity to become part owner in a jewelry store, while still continuing the ministry activities that I described above. At this point, the internet was just getting started. The general public was becoming aware of the possibilities, and I became interested. I learned how to navigate the "bulletin board systems" that existed at the time and continued to learn as websites became a real thing. Amazing to think about how far we have come in such a short period of time.
One morning, at the beginning of 1994, I was held up at gunpoint in the store. We were effectively out of business. This became a major turning point in my life and the lives of my family.
Our prayer was that God would lead us to whatever He had for us next. My desire was to be in ministry full time. Through a series of miraculous events, that is exactly what God did.
From that point in 1994 through 2011, my wife and I, along with our two children were involved in full time ministry as evangelists on the streets of Houston, ministering to children and families of the inner city in apartment complexes on a daily basis.
During that time, we conducted after school Bible study programs, city-wide outreach events in partnership with local churches, ministry training events, back-to-school outreach programs, health fairs, drug and alcohol awareness programs in public and private schools, and more. We had the privilege of ministering to thousands of people each year, bringing them the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In 1995, I learned to build my first ministry website, which is still up and running, Effective-Evangelism-Training.org
I continued to build websites, eventually creating a small business helping others to do the same.
This developed into a group of ministry websites designed to provide ministry training, Bible study resources, and Personal Discipleship materials to people around the world. Currently, we have a list of about 3000 people, including ministers from the United States, Africa, India, and a variety of other countries who access the sites on a regular basis to download materials for personal use, as well as training materials for their ministry schools and churches.
Today, I continue to work on new ministry websites in order reach as many people as possible.
The downloadable resources on the websites are free to use, but the maintenance of the sites is an ongoing cost. This website, ChristianGiftDepot.com, helps to support that ministry effort. A percentage of our profit goes to the costs of running those sites. You can access all of the sites by going to www.JustJesusGroup.com.
The Ministry Podcast Begins
Over the years, God laid it on my heart to develop all of the teaching materials into an online ministry school. The project has had a few stops and starts over time, but has finally come to a launching point.
I am currently in the process of recording the first episodes of a new podcast that will launch sometime in 2018.
The podcast will be designed to teach through the materials with links to the downloadable resources on the websites.
Many of those who access the websites from other countries have expressed a desire for systematic training for ministry as they try to reach people in their communities and countries with the Gospel.
This podcast, in conjunction with the ministry websites, will help to train, equip and encourage people around the world to carry out what God has called them to do. This is indeed a missionary effort. I feel privileged that God is allowing me to be a part of His plan.
This website will help to support that ministry effort as well.
I appreciate your taking time to read about our ministry. I also want to thank you for supporting the effort by shopping in our online store. Your purchases help us to do what God has called us to do.
Thank you and may God bless you in your ministry efforts as well. If there is ever anything I can do to help you, please feel free to email me.
